Clement J Adams
Corporal, Company K, Age 38 from Newfield
Promoted to Full Sgt on 1 March, 1863
CLEMENT JACKSON ADAMS was born on 9 Dec, 1833 in West Newfield, Maine, the son of Dr
Stephen and Mary (Hobbs) (Marston) Adams [Gen History of Robert Adams, pg 174 and History
of Parsonsfield, pg 383]. He died on 9 April, 1899, presumably in Newfield (haven't viewed vr) and
is buried in the "Community" Cemetery in Newfield, located near the Adams cellar hole [YCCI, pg
1305].
On 6 June, 1869 Clement married SARAH JANE DORMAN [called JENNIE S on most records],
the daughter of Benjamin and Julia Ann Dorman of Newfield. Her grave stone has a birth year of
1839 and death in 1913 (haven't viewed her record yet), but ages on censuses seem to indicate
an 1841 birth year [perhaps Oct, 1841 as on 1900 rec].
Clement was a produce merchant in Newfield and lived his entire life in town. His probate in York
County [vol 207, pp 49,275,621] deeds all his estate to wife Jennie. John Bennett was executor.
They did not have any children.
