This website was created in memory of not only my great-great-great grandfather, James William Brown of Company G, but for all those who served alongside him for those 10 months in the 27th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment. Genealogy, which began as a hobby while a kid some 30 years ago, has evolved into a full-time commitment these days. My main focus is New England research, and I am a member of NEHGS, Strafford County,NH Genealogical Society, York County Gen. Society, ME Genealogy Society and NH Society of Genealogists, MOCA and NHOGA (cemetery/graveyard associations of ME and NH), the Locke Family Association, and I am the president and historian for NALF (National Association of Leavitt Families). My work on a genealogy of the descendents of John Amazeen of New Castle, NH is on the "back burner" for the time being, as I am currently part of a project in rewriting the Leavitt genealogies (originally done in the 1940-50's). I hope to hear from you! (John) Steve Dow Barrington, NH the27thMaine (at) gmail (dot)com |
