FRANKLIN E LAWRY was born on 30 July, 1843 at Kittery Point, ME, the son of John E and Joanna (Frisbee) Lawry [they had married on 30 Sept, 1827 in Kittery - VR of Kittery, pg. 299. John's surname spelled 'Laivery' on intents and marr rec]. He died on 17 Sept, 1932 in Kittery Point, ME. [obit and grave stone], and was buried in the First Baptist Church Cemetery, Kittery [YCCI p998].

He married on 28 Oct, 1865 in Kittery, ME to
FRANCENA A WALDRON, the daughter of John W and Priscilla (Patch) Waldron. She was born 17 Oct, 1845 and died on 6 July, 1916. Her brother Manning Waldron served in company G alongside Franklin, until he died of disease in Dec of 1862.

A native of Kittery, he "had resided there during his entire life with the exception of the time he was serving with the 27th and 32nd Maine regiments during the Civil War". Frank, along with many others of the 27th, reenlisted into the 32nd ME Infantry when it was organized. He was mustered into company A on 3 Mar, 1864 and was mustered out when regiment consolidated with the 31st ME on 12 Dec, 1864. He was a corporal and sergeant. He worked in the blacksmith shop on the Navy Yard for 35 years [obit]. He was one of the last (perhaps the only) remaining members of the 27th Maine alive in 1932.
Frank and Francena had the following children:

I.
CLARA P was born ca 1866 [grave; 1900 census has Jan, 1865] and died in 1904 [grave - rec not viewed]. She had married ca 1885 to JOHN A MACE, who was born in 1861 [grave; 1900 census says Oct, 1862] and had died in 1909. The 1900 census shows they had 6 children, 5 still alive at time and living with them.
1. Valla L, b.ca Oct,1880. ME Marriages has a marriage to Howard E Remick of Kittery on 13 June, 1901 and to Will M Upton of Limerick on 20 Apr, 1905. More research needed.
2. Frank Albert, born 13 Apr, 1886 [WWI Draft Reg Card]. Living in Kittery Point in 1918, where was a fisherman.
3. Francena E, born 9 June, 1888 [SSDI] and died on 25 Mar, 1976 in Biddeford,ME at age 87 [ME Death Index]. She had married William H Anderson of Portland, ME on 1 Feb, 1909. After a brief stay in South Berwick, they moved to So Portland. Two sons were living with them in 1930 census, Robert L and William H.
4. John A Jr, b.ca. May, 1895
5. Gertrude C, b.ca. Aug, 1897 [1900 census]. She was boarding with sister Francena in 1910 So Berwick census, age 12, her whereabouts after this not researched.

II.
JOHN F was born ca 14 Aug, 1869 [based on age at death] and died on 10 Nov, 1888 at age 19yrs,2mos,27das. He is buried in parents plot at First Baptist Church Cem, Kittery [YCCI p998].

III.
MANNING W was born ca July, 1876 [1900 census] and died on 1 Apr, 1962 in York, Maine [ME Death Index]. He is buried in First Bapt Ch Cem [YCCI p1016]. He was married to GERTRUDE J, who was born ca Nov 1877 [1900 census] and died in 1971 [YCCI p1016]. He was a fisherman in 1900 and later worked on the shipyard as a driller [1920-30 censuses]. Their children:
1. Ruth P, born ca Nov 1897 [1900 census] or 1898 [grave] and died in 1925 [grave - death rec not looked up yet]. She was living with parents during 1920 census, age 21, single, a stenographer, but sometime after this married to a Brooks. Her son Robert E Brooks was living with grandparents Manning and Gertrude in 1930 Kittery census, age 9
2. Edward E, born 27 Mar, 1902, died 3 Apr, 1945
3. Gladys E, living with parents in 1930 census, age 23, single. Not researched afterwards.
