JAMES EDWARD MOODY, the son of James S and Mary E (Huff) Moody, was
born in Kennebunkport on 26 Feb,1840. He died in Saco,ME on 11 Aug, 1910
at age 70 yrs, 5 mos, 15 das [ME VR] and is buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery in
Saco [YCCI,p1444].
He married in Biddeford on 28 Nov, 1868 [Biddeford marr on IGI] to ELLEN
F. HANSON, the daughter of Joseph H and Ruth (Davis) Hanson, with whom
Ellen and James lived during the 1870 Saco census. She was born 22
May,1841 in Lebanon, Maine, and died on 5 Feb, 1900 [YCCI,p1444]. She is
buried in same plot as husband in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Following his 9 month duty with the 27th ME, he reenlisted with the 2nd
Maine Cavalry as a sergeant in Co. L, and served from 9 Dec, 1863 until 5
Dec,1865 [ACWS; 1890 Vet Sch].
Born in Kennebunkport, James lived here in his early years, moving
afterwards to Saco between the 1860+1870 censuses. Here he worked as a
teamster for the city.
In the 1870 census, there is an Addie listed as a Moody with James and
Ellen, aged 6. In 1880 she is called "Addie G Hanson" and was aged 16,
"Dau-in-law" to James. She may be a daughter of Ellen's born prior to her
marr to James, but need to look into this more. It seems that this couple did
not have any children together.
