LUTHER NASON was born on 13 Feb, 1840 in South Berwick [ME vr], the son
of Joshua and Elizabeth (Earl) Nason. He died in Berwick, ME on 16 Jan, 1915
at age 74 yrs,11 mos,3 das and was buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in South
Berwick [ME vr + YCCI pg 2061].
He married first, in Somersworth, NH on 29 June 1861 [NH Marr Rec], EMILY J
BURKE, the daughter of James and Esther Burke. She died on 10 Oct, 1884 at
age 41 yrs,1 mo,27 das, and is buried with Luther at Pleasant Hill Cem.
He secondly was married on 1 Jan, 1887 in Somersworth, NH [Gen Rec of
Strafford Cty, vol.19,no.2,pg 25], to MARY ELIZABETH BUTLER, who was born
15 Feb, 1851 in Berwick,ME, the daughter of Moses W. and Mary E Butler
[possibly the Moses William and Mary E (Andrews) who marr in Berwick 12 Dec,
1848]. She was still alive in 1930 census, age 79.
Luther was a house carpenter, and he lived in South Berwick, Berwick, and in
Somersworth, NH. His brother Elwell served alongside him in the 27th ME.
Luther had four daughters, two born of each wife, all are buried at Pleasant Hill
Cem, S.Berw:
I. ANNIE A was born ca 1863, likely in S.Berw., and died on 20 Feb, 1882 at
age 18yrs,11mos,7das.
II. BELINDA JANE (JENNIE) was born ca 1865 in NH, and died on 25 Apr,
1886 at age 20yrs,10mos,13das

III. ANN BEULAH, born 4 Oct, 1887 in Somersworth,NH [Gen Rec of Strafford
Cty, vol.19,no.2,pg 24] and died in 1957 [gs]. She didn't marry, and had two
children, surname Nason:
1. Merle Alice, born in Berwick,ME on 27 May, 1909, she married Francis
Mathews, and lived in Berwick. She died on 22 Sept, 2005 in Berwick [obit in
Lewiston Sun-Journal, 27 Dec, 2005].
2. Gerald J, born ca 1913 in Berwick,ME. He married Lillian M Wilkins in North
Berwick,ME on 9 Jan, 1937.
IV. VANETTE, born 24 Feb, 1889 in Somersworth, NH [Gen Rec of Strafford
Cty,vol.19,no.4 pg 65] and died in 1961 [gs]. She did not marry, and had one
daughter, surname Nason:
1. Florence E, age 9/12 on 1910 census, born ME. Seen at age 20 in 1930
Berwick census.
