From The Portsmouth Times dated Friday, 28 Aug '96 (pg 1):
The following Biddeford people attended the reunion of the 27th Maine Reg. yesterday at
Government Grove:
Mr+Mrs J.T.Mason, Atwood Smith, John B Murphy, George McGrath, Charles Hadlock
from Saco:
Col H.H.Burbank, Edwin Moody, Arthur Libby, Charles W Fenderson, George Wakefield,
Mr+Mrs A.K.P.Chellis, W.S.Hasty
NOTE: on page 8 of same issue, it mentioned that between 400-500 people had attended
reunion, which seems to be an error as write-up on next day says that only about 200 had
done so.
From the Bangor Daily Whig and Courier, issue dated Sat, 29 Aug, 1896:
The reunion of the 27th Maine Volunteers was held at Government Grove, Kittery Point,
Thursday. Rain sadly interferred with the plans of the veterans and only about 100 were
present. Last years officers were re-elected.
