To aid in the search for your Twenty-Seventh Maine ancestor, I have made up
individual town pages with rolls of those soldiers whose residence was listed
for that particular place, and those who were born in the town (based on
information found in the regimental descriptive rolls). It must be remembered
that in some cases, when a town's own quota of volunteers was filled, its
citizen was "given" to another town in order to complete their required levy.
Residents from outside of York County also answered the call to arms, and
were attributed to these towns.
