JAMES WILLIAM BROWN, the son of Elihu Deering Brown and Jane Chandler (Fernald), was born in Kittery, Maine on 28 Dec 1841 [ME vr]. He died there on 5 May 1923 [ME death rec], and was buried in Orchard Grove Cemetery, Kittery.
He married, on 29 July 1863 in Malden, MA [MA vr], to EMILY AUGUSTA WAITT (WAITE). The daughter of Oliver and Hannah (Elms) Waitt, she was born in Malden, MA on 10 Aug 1840, and died in Kittery, Maine on 17 Jan 1919. She is also buried in Orchard Grove Cemetery.

James, in his early years, worked as a blacksmith, later becoming a house carpenter. He lived with his family in the Locke's Cove area of Kittery.

Martha married 3rd, on 18 Dec 1926 [ME Marr], to CHARLES S MORSE.
