From the Portsmouth Herald dated Wednesday, 14 Aug, 1901:
The annual reunion of the 27th Maine Regiment Association will be held at Sanford on 27 August. Meeting will be held at Red Man's Hall.
note: did not find any other mention of this thru the 31 Aug issue.
Wednesday, 27 August 1902, at Cape Porpoise
From the Portsmouth Herald, dated 27 August, 1902 (page 1):
"A number of Civil War veterans are attending the reunion of the 27th Maine Regiment at Cape Porpoise today"
Thursday, 27 August 1903, at Cape Porpoise
From the Fosters Daily Democrat, dated 28 Aug, 1903 (Berwick notes):
The annual reunion of the 27th Maine regiment was held at Cape Porpoise yesterday and was attended by 100 veterans and hundreds of invited guests. At a business meeting presided over by Col Horace H Burbank, the following were elected officers:
President: Henry B Peirce, Arlington, MA
V.P.'s: Dennis M Shapleigh, Kittery and George H Roberts, Springvale
Secretary: W.S.Hasty, Portland
Treasurer: Joseph T Mason, Biddeford
Executive Committee: Col Horace H Burbank, Saco; Nathaniel N Hurd, North Berwick; Lieut Fred S Bryant, Kennebunk
- There has been several deaths during the past year.
- The next meeting will be held in this town (Berwick), 27 Aug, 1904.
Fosters Daily Democrat dated Thursday the 27th (pg 6):
East Rochester notes:
Samuel D Hayes of West Lebanon, ME went to Cape Porpoise this morning to attend reunion of the 27th ME. He was a member of Co.D. At the East Lebanon station, several other members of same regiment boarded the train.
