Charles E Abbott
Rank: Pvt Co: K Age: 18 Residence: Shapleigh Birthplace: Shapleigh Occupation: farmer
Married/Single: M Height: 5' 6.5 Eyes: Gr Hair: Br Complexion: Lt

Charles E. Abbott, born about Sept, 1848 in Maine, is seen in 1860 household of Jacob Abbott of Shapleigh (still need to determine if this is parentage). I lose site of him in 1870 census, but by 1880 he is now in Henry, Marshall County, Illinois, age 35, an artist, with Louisa age 32 (b.NY) and Harry, age 12 (b.Ill.). He is still here in 1900, renting a home on Main St. He is a photographer, with his wife Louisa H [ hard to read, may be Lavisa], she was born Apr, 1848 in New York, having had only one child but no longer living. I suspect that this was the Harry Abbott seen in 1880 census. They had been married for 33 years (ca 1867).

By the 1910 census, Charles E. is now in Bellingham, Whatcom Co, Washington state, a widower at age 65, still a photographer, living in a boarding home.

The 'Sons of Union Veterans' web site lists his burial place at the Washington State Soldiers Home in Orting,Pierce Co,WA. He died on 5 Jan, 1915 according to this source.
