Medal of Honor List
The following names are those listed in Stone's "History of the Twenty-Seventh Maine" (1895), the 312 men said to have volunteered to stay for an extended time in Washington, DC. I have listed them in alphabetical order. Another list, containing the names of 299 men and possibly being the same one that Col Wentworth used to distribute the medals in 1865, is found at the Maine State Archives. Comparing the two rosters, those names not found on the "299 list" are indicated below.
