THOMAS FRANK ADLINGTON was born 13 Nov 1842 in Wayland, MA, the son of Thomas and Mary Jane (Oxford) Adlington. Thomas died in South Berwick, Maine on 16 Apr 1910 [ME VR] and was buried in Mt Pleasant/Greenwood Cemetery in Eliot.
Thomas married in Portsmouth, NH, on 2 May 1864, to ANN EMILY LYDSTON, who was born 8 Aug 1847 and died 30 Jan 1925 in South Berwick at age 77 yrs. She is buried with husband in Eliot. I still need to look up her death record for additional data.
Thomas was listed as a painter in earlier census records, and as a station agent in 1900. By the census records he lived in Eliot and Kittery most of his life, except for his birth in Mass. He moved to South Berwick in 1907, working as a crossing tender.
Three children [per 1900-10 censuses] are known to have been born to this couple:
I. HERBERT WALTER ADLINGTON, born Jan 1865 in Eliot. He removed to Mass, living in many towns, including Somerville, Saugus, Medford, Whitman, and Brockton [still living in this town in 1949, retired]. He worked many years as a freight clerk for the B+M R.R., but held numerous other occupations later in life. Still need to find 1st marriage, but he married secondly to FRANCINA PRATT WHITMAN on 5 June, 1895 in Somerville, MA [MA VR v 452, p 360]. She was born in Newton, MA, the daughter of Winslow and Zilpha (Washburn). They had one child:
1. Walter D Adlington who was age 11 in 1910 and 21 in 1920 census, working as water tender for US Navy [not w/ them in 1900].
II. HERMAN FRANKLIN ADLINGTON was born 10 June 1867 and died 22 Aug 1868. He is buried with parents in Eliot.
III. HARRY ERNEST ADLINGTON, was born 29 Apr 1876 and died in 1949. He married 4 Sept 1901 to EUNICE T LUTTS, the daughter of Adam and Esther (Ware) Lutts, who was born 3 Mar 1876 in Kittery and died at the Concord State Hospital on 24 Aug 1943 [NH VR]. She is buried with husband at Mt Pleasant Cem, Eliot. This couple lived in Berwick, ME and Dover, NH [at 40 4th St and 600 Central Ave], where he was a station agent and towerman for the Boston + Maine Railroad. He retired in 1941 They didn't have any children.
