CHARLES SOLON BARTLETT was born on 19 July 1840 [Hist of Bethel, pg 470] in Bethel, Maine [Descriptive roll], the son of Ball and Marina (Bartlett) Bartlett. He died on 10 Mar. 1871 [gravestone; Hist of Bethel, pg 470, says 7 March], perhaps in Bethel. He is buried in East Bethel Cemetery (Section A, lot 11).
I have found no marriage record for him, nor does the "History of Bethel" or "Descendants of Joseph Bartlett" give him any spouse. I did not find him in the 1870 census that could help in these matters.
He was a farm laborer in 1860. His father had a tavern and hotel in Bethel. The History of Bethel, ME, pages 466-470, has a good history on the Bartlett family in this region, the same data is also found in "The Descendants of Joseph Bartlett of Newton, MA" compiled by Aldis Everard Hibner c1934 (pg 128-29).
The ancestry of Charles S (Ball, Thaddeus, Ebenezer, Joseph, Joseph-1) shows that his parents were first cousins, the children of brothers Thaddeus and Peregrine Bartlett.
additional source data:
1850 Bethel, Me census
1860 Bethel, Oxford Co,Me census (pg 36)
1870 Bethel: mother Marina here, but son not with her (Ball was deceased)
