GEORGE E BLACK was born in Limington, ME on 26 June 1843, the son of Jacob and Charlotte B (Swett) Black [History of Limington, pg 150]. He died in West Roxbury, Boston, Suffolk, MA on 21 Dec, 1907 from a cerebral hemorrhage, at the age of 64 yrs, 5 mos, 21 das [MA VR v22 p274]. Burial place was in Forest Hills, Jamaica Plains, MA.
On 27 Nov. 1872 in Boston [MA VR v246 p184], he married ELIZABETH A ROGERS, the daughter of William and Hannah (or Harriet) Rogers. She was born in Bath, Maine ca June 1843 [1900 census], and died after the 1930 census.
By 1870, George had left Limington for Boston, where he remained for the rest of his life. His occupation varied throughout the years, early on working as a clerk, and then as a depot master and freight agent for the B + P RR [1878 Boston St Dir; 1880 census]. The 1900 census shows him working in real estate. They owned a house at 74 Anawan Ave.
George and Elizabeth had two children [1900 census data], though only one lived to adulthood.

II. EDITH ELIZABETH BLACK was born 1 Feb. 1884 in Boston, MA [MA VR v351 p203]. She married on 5 Oct, 1910 in Boston to WILLIAM ETHELBERT McARTHUR, the son of Arthur and Louise E McArthur [MA VR v597 p250], who was born in Boston on 28 July 1881 [WWI, WWII Draft Reg Cards]. He worked for, and became president of, McArthur Furniture Co, his father's business. They lived at 82 Anawan Ave,West Roxbury and did not have any children.
