WARREN FERNALD, born in Kittery, ME in Feb 1838, the son of Capt. Simon Fernald and Joanna F Williams. Warren died on 22 Nov 1914 in Kittery [ME death rec]. He was a member of E.G.Parker Post No.99, GAR.
Warren married circa 1865 [date not yet found] MARGARET A JENKINS, who was born in Kittery in 1841 [g.s.; 1900 census has Jan 1842] and died on 18 Aug 1914 in Kittery [ME death rec] from heart disease, aged 73 yrs, 7 mos, 8 das. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Eunice (Manson) Jenkins.
Father Simon was lost at sea in 1848, his widow Joanna found in Kittery censuses with Warren living there [among other ch in household is Simon, who also served in the 27th ME]. Warren's name is on stone in Simon Sr's cemetery plot, but also has his own family spot in Orchard Grove, Kittery.
While in the service of the 27th Maine, Warren contracted typhoid fever and diphtheria, and had to be discharged from the regiment. As he didn't file for a pension until 1896, it looks as if those diseases didn't handicap him after he returned home. He lived most of his life in Kittery (except for a brief stay in Waltham, MA in late 1890's to early 1900's where he was a blacksmith) and held many jobs at the Navy Yard, including watchman, shopkeeper, and 'running planer'.
According to the 1900 Waltham census, Margaret had 8 children, 6 of them still living, the 1910 Kittery says 10/8. I have 9 (6 believed to be alive in 1900).The descendants are as follows:
i. CARRIE E FERNALD, born ca 1865, she married 30 Sept, 1888 in Kittery to ANSON L CLARK of Ipswich, MA [VR of Kittery pg 472]. She was living there in 1906 [ Ports Herald 7 Aug, 1906: Mrs Carrie E Clark of Ipswich,MA is visiting her mother Mrs Warren Fernald of Rogers Rd.]
ii. MARCIA E FERNALD, b. 1867 and died 1935 [g.s.], she married JOHN E GRANT (1866-1933 on g.s.). Haven't looked further into this couple. Both are buried in Warren's family plot.

v. DAISY M FERNALD, born 1872, died 1891 [g.s. -Orchard Gr.]
