ELIJAH J C OWEN, the son of John and Ruth (Hill) Owen, was born in Buxton, Maine in 1839. He died in Saco, Maine on 16 July 1914 at age 75 yrs,2 mos,16 das and was buried at Highland Cemetery in Buxton [ME Death Rec; YCCI, pg 393].

He married abt 1861 [intents filed 11 Feb 1861 in Buxton, cert iss 16 Feb- Buxton VR], JOANNA S LORD (called ANNA in censuses). She was born in 1836 and died in 1887 [grave] or on 11 Nov 1888 [Buxton VR], and is buried with Elijah in Highland Cemetery.

Secondly, on 30 June 1897 in Buxton, he married MINNIE FRANCES RICHARDSON. The daughter of Charles and Ruby (Lambert) Richardson, she was born ca May 1862 [1900 census] in Dover, ME and died on 1 Dec 1921 in Freeport, Maine [ME Death Rec; gravestone says 1922]. She is buried with husband in Highland Cemetery.

Elijah was a farmer as was his father, and lived his life in Buxton. He and two of his brothers, Mark L.H. and Melville C., all enlisted into the 27th Maine. 

By his first wife, he had the following children:

I. CORA BELLE OWEN, born 2 Apr 1862 [Buxton VR] and died on 29 Dec 1862 [Buxton VR] at age 9 months. She is buried with parents.

II. FREDDIE CARLTON OWEN, was born on 7 Dec 1865 [Buxton VR] and died on 14 Sept 1866 [Buxton VR] at age 9 months [grave].

III. MABEL ANN OWEN was born 30 Sept 1869 [Buxton VR]. She married, on 29 Apr 1898 in Buxton, to LESTER H BOLSTER. Born in Easton, Maine, he was the son of David and Addie (Libby) Bolster.
