Married/Single: M Height: 5' 4.25 Eyes: Br Hair: Br Complexion: Dk

JOSEPH G TUTTLE was born in Eliot, Maine circa 1820, the son of John and Sarah (Staples) Tuttle. He died of "brain fever (aka meningitis), contracted by exposure" [pension papers] at Camp Vermont on 18 Dec 1862, and was shipped home for burial in the Staples family cemetery in Eliot.

He was married, in Kittery, Maine on 5 Dec 1841 [Kittery VR, pg 304], to EUNICE FERNALD. The daughter of Daniel and Phebe (Trefethen) Fernald, she was born in Kittery on 15 Sept 1822 [Old Kittery, pg 401]. She died after the 1880 census.

Joseph was a fisherman, as was his father, according to the 1860 census for Eliot. I do not see him in the 1850 census.
