JOSEPH D WILSON was born about Jan 1825 in Nova Scotia to Thomas and Esther Wilson (both born N.S.). He died on the 18th of March 1908 [3/19/1908 issue of the LA Herald, death notice (from Long Beach, Mar 18th, says "died this morning"] in Long Beach, California. He had fallen two days earlier at his boarding house and had broken two ribs. He was buried in the "Signal Hill" Cemetery, now the Long Beach Municipal Cemetery [Long Beach, CA Death Certs, 1904-1911]
He was married first to MARY ANN (aka Marianna) PERKINS, who was born in Wells, Maine on 10 July 1833 to Japhet and Sally Perkins. She died in Lynn, MA on 16 Jan 1884.
Joseph married secondly, on 25 Jan 1885 in North Berwick, ME (rec in Lynn, MA v.361, p.272) to his wife's sister, the widow MELINDA ALLEN, daughter of Japhet (though called Jacob on rec) and Sarah Perkins, and former wife of Clarkson M Allen. Melinda was born in Wells in Sept 1838 (1900 census) and died there on 23 April 1901 at age 62 yrs, 7 mos, 16 das. No burial place was given on her death rec.
According to his naturalization papers (from Sept 1864), he arrived in the US on 15 Apr 1847. He lived in Berwick and Wells, Maine as well as Lynn, Mass. His residence was listed as North Berwick when he enlisted. He is seen as both a carpenter and a farmer (in his later years, owning a farm in Wells). Following the 1900 census, he moved out to California. Note: though the muster rolls show his middle initial as "B", all other records are clear that is was a "D".
By 1st wife Mary Ann, Joseph had the following children:
i. THACHER PERKINS WILSON (also seen as Thatcher), born in Wells ca 1854, he was of Lynn,MA on 25 May 1884 when he married NETTIE F ALLEN in North Berwick,ME [MA v.r. vol.352,p.281]. She was born in Wells ca 1857, the daughter of Clarkson and Melinda Allen, and died there on 2 July 1890. Her mother is the same who married Thacher's father, Joseph. They had:
1. Walter Warren Wilson, b. 10 Sept 1887 in Wells, ME, he moved out to Los Angeles to become a manager at a door+sash company. He married ca 1910 to a Marietta, born in Illinois ca 1889 (based on age 21 in 1910 + 31 in 1920). They were still in LA during the 1930 census, they had no children given them in cen rec's.

ANNIE ETTA WILSON, born ca 1864 in Wells, ME, she married 25 Sept 1884 in Lynn,MA to ELMER ELLSWORTH BOYNTON [MA v.r. v.352, p.290], a shoecutter born in Lynn on 23 Mar 1861 to Benjamin F and Sarah D. iii. MARIANNA (or MARY A) WILSON, was born 2 Apr 1870 in Lynn, MA [MA v.r. vol.223,p.244]. This rec also gives mother as Marianna, all other rec's have Mary A(nn). Perhaps she is the Mary that died in Lynn in 1885 (rec not yet viewable). Her birth rec is clear as being April, though the 1870 census says June (she was age 1/12, was crossed out as no one born after June 1st could be enumerated - don't know what to think of this, prob error)
